More and more truck drivers are speeding and using ice to stay awake while driving for more than 16 hours a day, says Keith Moor in article for the Herald Sun.
This was confirmed by the latest figures from Victoria Police, who are tasked with battling the growing ice epidemic in the state.
According to Det-Insp Bernie Rankin, the head of the transport investigations section of the Victoria Police, one in 12 truck drivers the police are targeting were now testing positive for drugs. He also expressed concern that illicit drug use may have contributed to the increase in the number of fatalities involving heavy vehicles in 2014.
