Drug sniffer dogs have played a crucial role in police drug raids conducted around pubs and clubs in Coffs Harbour, Sawtell, and Woolgoolga, according to a report in The Coffs Coast Advocate.
The operation, which was code-named Wells, resulted in the apprehension of several people who were caught in possession of various prohibited drugs. They were promptly charged with drug and alcohol-related offences.
These types of operations where police and drug sniffer dogs and their handlers work hand-in-hand are expected to continue according to Detective Inspector Darren Jameson, Coffs Clarence Crime Manager.
“Drugs and alcohol continue to be the drivers of crime within this command, and we will continue with all types of policing tactics to reduce the harmful impact of all drugs and alcohol within our community,” Jameson said.
